# Normative Edge

An edge on the consequence chain along which an occurrent meets the condition of a norm — a statute, regulation, contract or policy — so that a duty arises, or stands as its violation, and so becomes a Business Risk Event: a notification duty arising, a reporting deadline missed. Nothing propagates along it and no Δt is defined: a statutory deadline (e.g. 72 hours from awareness under GDPR Art. 33) bounds a separate causal response process, not the edge. Distinguished from a causal edge, which carries a Δt and can be interrupted.
